About the artist
Brian Robinson Brian likes to experiment with all media but his main interest is watercolour and although he paints many varied subjects he specialises in train paintings and railway scenes. He draws on his own memories of the steam era for inspiration and combines these with his own photographs of preserved rolling stock and buildings whenever he can. He tends to depict the more prosaic side of the steam era trying to conjure up the smoke and grime of the ordinary working environment of the time whilst at the same time capturing the poignancy of neglect and dereliction.
He is an associate member of the Guild of Railway Artists and his work has again been in the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour exhibition at the Mall Galleries in April 2010
